Join a volunteer board of regional leaders guiding capital toward Black-led food systems across Oregon and Washington.

The opportunity

Black Food Fund is seeking engaged, mission-driven leaders to serve on its Board of Directors. Board members share fiduciary responsibility and provide the governance, advocacy, and resources needed to fuel Black-led food systems transformation across the Pacific Northwest. Our goal is to shift capital in ways that build wealth, self-determination, and resiliency for Black people within our regional food system.

Core responsibilities

  1. 01Champion the organization’s mission, values, and strategic priorities.
  2. 02Provide thoughtful governance, oversight, and long-range direction.
  3. 03Review financial reports, approve the annual budget, and safeguard assets.
  4. 04Attend at least 75% of board meetings, prepare for them, and participate actively in discussion and decisions.
  5. 05Serve on at least one committee or working group.
  6. 06Attend key organizational events.
  7. 07Support the Leadership Team through guidance, evaluation, and accountability.
  8. 08Act as an ambassador by building relationships and increasing community awareness.
  9. 09Make a personally meaningful annual gift (minimum $200) and help advance fundraising efforts.
  10. 10Disclose conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality.

What you bring

Prior board experience is welcome but not required. We value a range of backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Ability to understand financial and strategic information
